Offered here is an early edition of The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum: the 5th edition, 2nd printing according to the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum, published by Bobbs-Merrill. What makes this copy unique is that someone unknown has embellished the pastedown cover with silver, black and blue ink. I believe this is on the B binding state, which normally has an insipid pale yellow design. This is much better, I.M.O., and the art is done so well I suspect it was an adult with some art talent, rather than a child. The book positively sparkes now, especially since it’s in such great condition! Also with 8 color plates by W W Denslow.
Condition is near fine–clean cloth and pastedown, sharp spine and corners, tight binding, clean plates and pages. The only thing of note is a former owner’s address stamp on the front endpaper.
