Description

Here is an unusual “Chi-namel” advertising brochure that uses illustrations by Wizard of Oz book illustrator W W Denslow. This advertising gig by Denslow is mentioned in the corrections/additions to the Greene/Hearn Bibliography on WW Denslow that were published in the Autumn 1980 Baum Bugle. Denslow’s drawings (some signed) or were used on various products including postcard, brochures and cans. They picture stereotypical Chinese children painting various items with “Chi-namel” paint or stain. (Later Chi-namel postcards/advertising changed the style to something slightly less racist.) This is a bi-fold advertising brochure that I have never seen before!

Opens to about 5.5″x6.75″, double sided, undated. In near very good condition with light wear/soiling.
