Description
Here is a hard to find book by L. Frank Baum, author of the Wizard of Oz. The Daring Twins was published in 1911 by Reilly & Britton, the first of a series of two books that includes also Phoebe Daring. This is a first edition (the only Reilly and Britton printing), in the harder to find “B” binding with light blue-grey cloth (Book Collector’s Guide to L. Frank Baum). The series wasn’t very popular and so these titles are quite hard to find. With 317 pages and 4 inserted black and white plates by Pauline Batchelder.
The book is exterior is in very good condition, nice clean cover and spine, with a slight cock to the spine. Inside in good only, with some former owner’s inscriptions on the front free endpaper, and both hinges have been glue repaired. There is some water staining to the edges of about half of the pages, only in the margin and not affecting the print area. The four plates are present and in very good condition, except for one with the aforementioned water staining. For the Baum completist collector!
