Description
This is a nice vintage find: the Magical Monarch of Mo, by Oz author L. Frank Baum. Printed by Bobbs-Merrill in the 1920’s, according to The Book Collector’s Guide to Baum, with a new, more colorful pastedown cover label (copyright 1903). With 8 plates printed in orange and black and many black and white illustrations by Frank Verbeck. One of Baum’s most clever and entertaining works, based on the earlier and scarce “A New Wonderland”, and a rather unusual edition.
Book is in near very good condition. The cover has light rubbing to pastedown, spine is nice, rear cover with some soiling. Inside, the hinges are intact, endpapers have light soiing, pages in nice condition. All 8 color plates are present and in quite good condition, one with some soiling as shown. Verbeck’s work is quite entertaining.
