Here is an unusual copy of “The Sea Fairies”, one of the non-Oz books written by L Frank Baum. Copyright 1911, this is a later edition without the color plates, with an. It unusual multicolor library binding based on the “groovy” dust jacket design that came out in the 60’s. The library versions of Oz books with cover art are becoming quite collectible, as they are unusual and attractive in their own right. Internal black and white illustrations by John R Neill, published by Reilly & Lee.
Condition of the book is good minus, with some overall soiling and library numbers inked at at base of spine. Also, the front board is slightly bowed. Inside on the endpapers, the book has two “Derita School Library” stamps an an old bookseller’s seal. Marking from old card pocket on rear endpaper. Binding is tight, but pages have some foxing and slight waviness.
