Description
The Baum Bugle is the magazine put out by the International Wizard of Oz Club, which has been around since 1957. Because the club was so small in those days, early issues of the Bugle are extremely hard to find. Here is one of these scarce issues from April 1962. This issue focuses on international Wizard of Oz books. Issue is ten pages (plus cover) with black and white illustrations. This seems to be the first issue that was folded, as the August 1961 issue was side stapled.
This issue contains the following special material:
1939 Japanese Oz book cover
Letter from Harry Neal Baum about a visit to where The Wizard of Oz was written
International Land of Oz–long article on Oz books from other countries
1962 Convention information
“Lost” American Fairy Tale (tales in 1901 Chicago Chronicle)
Runaway Shadows reprinting
Oz in the News
Lucifer’s Uplift Delayed
Very good condition with a small stain on cover, from David Greene’s collection.
