Here is an unusual copy of The Shaggy Man of Oz with a hard-to-find dust jacket illustrated by Dick Martin. In 1960, only ten of the Oz books were issued in special dust jackets by Martin, and these were only in production for a few years. These jacket covers are described in Appendix 2 of Bibliographia Oziana (1988). Shaggy Man was written by Jack Snow and published by Reilly & Lee. The book is in plain yellow boards under the fabulous jacket, with the Shaggy Man looking quite perky.
Book is in good plus condition with some foxing to spine and tanning to inside endpapers. Former owner’s name inside cover and to the Book Belongs To page. Hinges are tight and other pages are clean. Jacket is good only, not price clipped but with some foxing to periphery, small hole to the left of Shaggy’s shoulder, and a 1.5″ tear along spine edge and rear flap. One of the harder Martin covers to find!
