Description

Here is a 1st edition, 1st printing of The Scarecrow of Oz by L. Frank Baum, with 12 color plates by John R Neill, in nice condition. Published by Reilly & Britton in 1915 (publisher’s advertisement lists to The Scarecrow of Oz as called for in the 1st printing). Illustrated endpapers. Copyright 1915.

For the budget-minded collector, as the condition is only fair overall. The cover plate has a little writing above the “of”, and the spine has wear on sides and end as shown. Inside, both hinges are badly cracked, so the binding is very loose, with mull showing, and the front endpaper is torn about half-way up. Tears to base of first two endpapers, which are starting to detach, and a few other pages. The ownership page which is filled in, with bookplate opposite, and little scribbles to back of frontis. A few pages are colored, with the main text pages mainly ok, and the 12 color plates good overall. Worthy of restoration.
