Description
Here is a nice 1st edition copy of The Purple Prince of Oz, by Ruth Plumly Thompson. Published in 1932 by Reilly & Lee, this is the first printing with 12 color plates by John R. Neill. Also with illustrated endpapers. One of the harder Oz 1sts to find–as the color plates were discontinued in about 1935.
Condition of this book is very good overall. The front cover pastedown is quite nice, with just a little edge wear. The spine and rear cover are clean and bright though the spine is slightly faded. There is a slight bowing to the front board. Inside, both hinges are intact, with some age toning to endpapers, and the ownership page has a name and 1936 date. All 12 color plates are present and in nice condition, though for the frontis which has a little creasing to it. The pages are in nice shape with some age toning. See photos. Overall a nice Thompson first.
