Description

Here is an early edition of “The Lost King of Oz”, one of the harder to find vintage Oz books. Written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, successor to L. Frank Baum. Copyright 1925 by Reilly & Lee, with 12 beautiful color plates by John R. Neill. Ca 1927-1928 printing with most plates coated on both sides, and bold Reilly & Lee spine imprint (see Book Collector’s Guide to Baum). Interestingly, is also has perfect type on the word “back” of p. 193, line 4, suggesting it is one of the earlier copies before the printing plates were worn.

The book is in very good condition overall. The cover plate has some scuffing as shown. The spine and rear cover are very clean. Inside, the hinges are tight and the endpapers are clean. The Book Belongs To page is neatly filled in. All 12 plates are present and in excellent condition, as are the pages themselves. A very nice copy overall.
