Description

Here is a first edition/first printing of Glinda of Oz by L. Frank Baum, published in about 1920 by Reilly & Lee, with an unusual dark blue cloth (usually this first is in a tannish cloth). As required by The Book Collector’s Guide to L. Frank Baum reference, Glinda of Oz is the last book in the publisher’s advertisement in the front, and the book has 12 color plates by John R. Neill without captions, as well as nice illustrated endpapers.

The book is in very good condition overall, with some edge and corner wear, and a scratch on the rear cover. Color pastedown is very nice; spine is clean. Front endpaper has “No 12” written at top in pen, rear endpaper has bookseller’s pencil notations. Hinges are tight. Book Belongs To pages has an ownership stamp. All 12 plates are present and in very good condition, although two have small brownish stains on the edge. Pages are in good condition overall, some soiling here and there, but no writing or tears.
