Description
Here is a true 1st edition of The Giant Horse of Oz by Ruth Plumly Thompson with 12 color plates, published by Reilly & Lee. This is the real-deal 1928 first printing with the misprint “Oniberon” for “Quiberon” on the frontispiece, and one of the earliest copies with perfect type in “morning” on line 1 of page 116 (referencing The Book Collector’s Guide to Baum). With decorated Oz end papers.
Condition is fair to good, due to some water damage causing wrinkling to the pastedown (also some scratches), with some waviness to about the first half of the pages and plates inside. No odor. The spine and rear cover are in good condition. The front hinge is cracked but holding; the rear is intact. Old price in pencil on front endpaper and name on ownership page, tanning to endpapers. All 12 color plates are present and in decent condition except for the waviness and one that someone has adorned with their name–see photos. A complete copy for the budget minded collector.
