Description
Here is a nice copy of “The Yellow Knight of Oz”, one of the harder to find and thus more desirable vintage Oz titles. Written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, successor to L. Frank Baum. Copyright 1930 by Reilly & Lee, this is a first edition with 12 fabulous color plates by John R. Neill. Also with illustrated endpapers and in the “A” binding state with boldface “Reilly & Lee” on spine (Book Collector’s Guide to L Frank Baum). Brick red cloth.
Copy is in good condition only overall. The exterior cover plate has a tiny chip at upper left, and the spine cloth is wrinkled as shown. Rear cover is nice. Inside, both hinges are badly cracked, with the mull (webbing) showing, but everything is still holding together. There is a prior owner’s ink inscription on the Book Belongs To page, with erased pencil underneath. All 12 color plates are present and in very nice overall condition, but one is detached and a couple are slightly loose. They have eyepopping bright colors; I love the plates in this book. The pages are generally in good shape but do have age toning and a few stains.
