Description
Here is a special copy of “Ozoplaning with the Wizard in Oz”, one of the Oz books written by Ruth Plumly Thompson. Copyright 1939 by Reilly & Lee, this is a first edition copy with 16 page gatherings, as called for in The Book Collectors Guide to Baum. Also in the original first dust jacket which lists to Ozoplaning on the dust jacket flap. This was the childhood copy of Oz-Club great Fred Meyer, originally gifted to him in 1939 and it stayed in his collection until his death in 2004! Fred’s name is on the front fixed endpaper as well as twice on the ownership page. The late ’30s publication date of this book means that it never was issued with color plates.
The book exterior is in nice condition with a beautiful bright pastedown, clean rear cover and spine with just a little fading right at the base. Inside, the hinges are intact, with a little age toning to the endpapers where the flaps were touching them. The rest of the pages are in very good condition. The dust jacket is good only with a fair amount of edge wear and chipping to spine as shown. The spine is also faded, and Fred has added the next two Oz books in pencil on the flap. Not price-clipped. I will put it in a clear archival cover to protect it for you.
