Here is an unusual Roycroft stand-alone advertisement for The Fra magazine, picturing a Denslow-drawn Elbert Hubbard caricature as a monk “Fra Elbertus”). The cartoon very faintly signed Den with a seahorse in the black, a little hard to see but there. Probably circa 1910-1920 after Denslow was no longer working with the Roycrofters. Unlike the similar B&W ads I have had in the past that were culled from a book or magazine, this is a stand-alone piece on thicker stock that was likely part of a promotional mailing. Measures 4 1/4″x 7″, blank on back side. This interesting image of Hubbard by Denslow was also used on a rare Roycroft postcard shown in last image (postcard not included).
