Description
This is one of 6 Thanksgiving postcards drawn by Wizard of Oz illustrator W. W. Denslow. What makes this one special is that it’s a “Sample” card, which has the price (?) per 100 and also the distributor, American News Company. This is the first sample card I’ve seen, and the company’s name was previously unknown to me. Image is “The first Thanksgiving Dinner in Ye Old Time”.
Embossed and lithographed with beautiful, classic Denslow illustration and marked with his seahorse and “DEN”. These were printed with both gold and silver lettering; this one has the silver lettering.
