Here is a nice copy of the Little Black Sambo and Peter Rabbit “Turnover Book”, illustrated by Wizard of Oz illustrator John R. Neill. Copyright 1910 by Reilly & Britton; this is a slightly later Reilly & Lee printing. The first part of the book has the Sambo story; then you turn it over (with a page that says just “Turn Over”) and the other half is Peter Rabbit. Very cute. 32 pages to each section. Color illustrated covers, many full-page color, shockingly stereotypical illustrations of the period by Neill.
Book is in fair to good overall condition, the biggest issue being a strong bow in the boards, so the book looks curved from the side as shown in one of the photos. Otherwise, the book is quite nice, with a clean cover, light fading to spine, and a little creasing in the middle. Inside, the pages are very clean, and the binding is tight with just a little wear starting to hinges. One Book Belongs To page has a 1921 date. A very hard-to-find Oz-related collectible in any condition!
