Description
The Baum Bugle is the magazine put out by the International Wizard of Oz Club, which has been around since 1957. Because the club was so small in those days, early issues of the Bugle are extremely hard to find. Here is one of these scarce issues from August 1962. This issue deals primarily with Baum’s lesser known creative productions–his plays, including Radio Plays and motion pictures. Issue is 12 pages pages (including cover) with black and white illustrations. I am also listing some other early issues.
This issue contains the following special material:
1908 Radio Play photograph cover with Baum and his actors
Introductory letter from club founder Justin Schiller
L. Frank Baum and the Radio-Plays by Russell MacFall
Dramatic Influence on Oz (how Baum’s plays and books interacted) by Fred Meyer
In the Fairyland of Motion Pictures (condensation of 1909 article by Baum)
Ozian Adventures on the Silent Screen by Dick Martin
Lucifer’s Uplift Delayed
Newsletter is near fine condition, with light edge wear only. A highly collectible piece of Oziana.
