I was amazed to find this antique bound music book than includes not one, not two, not three, but four pieces of original sheet music from the 1902 (an onward) Wizard of Oz stageplay! Also includes 21 other pieces of antique sheet music from musicals of the day, for 25 pieces total. The Oz sheets include Honey in the Springtime, That Must Be Love, When you Love Love Love, and Sammy. These are oversized pieces, so the book itself is about 11×14″. It belonged to the collection of Pasadena philanthropist Joseph P Everett, and most of the music covers have her name in ink at top right. Some of the sheets have been trimmed, and some have edge tears. The Oz sheets do appear to be trimmed at top or bottom and oversewn at the left margin. The black book cover is in good shape and the endpapers have a chipped corner and a pencil notation. Honey and That Must be Love are scarce artifacts.
The other pieces of note are 4 songs from George M Cohan’s Little Johnny Jones, 5 from Julian Mitchell’s It Happened in Nordland, 5 from Henry Savage’s Woodland, and 5 songs from The Mockingbird. Some great graphic covers here in addition to the Oz songs!
