Here I’m offering a choice of one of 16 original color plates from the 1910 1st edition The Emerald City of Oz! These are full color plates without captions and embellished with metallic green ink used in the Reilly & Britton 1st printing, according to the Book Collector’s Guide to L Frank Baum. The 9 plates shown include the frontispiece (water staining in margin), opposite p. 24 (long chip inner margin), p 54, p 74, p 108, p. 116, p 222, p. 240, p. 282. They are mostly in good condition with some wear and some edge staining, see photis. Here is the perfect chance to substantially increase the value of your 1st that is currently missing plates. Or, would be nice framed.
Plates for the frontispiece (“He led them into his queer mansion”) and opposite p 258 (the corncob mansion) have sold.
I also have some trimmed plates for opposite p. 186 and p. 232.
Plates are $15 each, or contact me if you want to purchase them all for a discounted price.
