Here is one of the most desirable of L. Frank Baum’s non-Oz books, The Sea Fairies. Published in 1911 by Reilly & Britton, this is a first edition, 1st printing with Binding A (the three faces on the front cover–reference: The Book Collector’s Guide to Baum). Five Oz books and John Dough and the Cherub in the publisher’s advertisement in front. Color illustrated endpapers, 12 amazing color plates by John R. Neill with iridescent ink.
Condition is not quite very good, with a deep scratch on the cover pastedown plate being the main flaw. Some wear to edges of pastedown. Spine and rear cover are very nice, with light wear. Inside, hinges and endpapers are beautiful and clean, binding is tight. Book Belongs to page has neat name. All 12 color plates are present and in nice condition, but most have tan stains on the edges as shown, as do some of the adjoining pages. Bumping to upper corner of text block. Many small issues, but the book still presents well.
