Description
Here is one of the most desirable of L. Frank Baum’s non-Oz books, The Sea Fairies. This is a circa 1920 printing according to the Collector’s Guide to L. Frank Baum. Published by Reilly & Lee and with a different cover illustration, but still retaining the 12 color plates of the 1st edition (but without the green iridescent ink). Personally I think this Neill cover with a mermaid looking into a mirror is much prettier than the cover of the earlier printings.
Book is in good condition. The front cover pastedown has some wear as shown. Spine is good; rear cover has a little soiling as shown. Inside, the hinges are tight, and there is a former bookseller’s pencil notations as shown. The Book Belongs To page has a 1920 name and address. The pages are in very good condition without writing or tears. The 12 color plates are all present and in generally good condition except a few have small edge tears.
