This is a great find: the Magical Monarch of Mo, by L. Frank Baum, first edition, third printing by Bobbs-Merrill, copyright 1903. Blue cloth cover stamped in navy & white, pastedown cover illustration, with the third printing publisher’s imprint (san serif, Imprint C) as given by The Book Collector’s Guide to Baum. A lavish book, with pinkish endpapers and many illustrations by Frank Verbeck. One of Baum’s most clever and entertaining works, based on the earlier and rare “A New Wonderland”.
Book is in very good plus condition, one of the best I have seen. The cover of the book has light edge wear, with bright titles and nice pastedown, often very faded. Inside, the binding is tight and the endpapers are clean (small bookseller’s original seal in corner and pencil notations about the book on blank endpaper). The pages are super clean and all 12 color plates are in great condition. A very collectible copy. I’ve read this book myself and it’s quite entertaining.
