Here is one of Baum’s non-Wizard of Oz books that isn’t seen very often; The Enchanted Island of Yew. This first edition book from 1903 by Bobbs-Merrill is also a first printing, with the fairy on p. 238 printed upside down (Book Collector’s Guide to L Frank Baum). This copy also contains eight peculiar and wonderful color plates by Fanny Y. Cory. With orange and black printing, illustrated throughout and also with peachy illustrated endpapers.
This copy is in fair to good condition, with substantial wear to the exterior cloth as shown. Heavy wear to corners and spine ends, with some fraying of cloth. Cover art and spine lettering is faded and there is staining to rear cover. Inside, the hinges are cracked and a little worn but holding. 1903 gift inscription to front endpaper. All 8 color plates are present and in very good condition. Pages are generally good, but with some finger soiling throughout. A Baum book difficult to find in the 1st printing, offered at a discounted price due to condition!
