Description

Here is a first edition of The Patchwork Girl of Oz published by Reilly & Britton in 1913. Written by L. Frank Baum, this is a first edition, first printing, with “Reilly & Britton” on the spine. According to the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum, this is also a second state of the first edition, first printing, because it doesn’t have the “C” on page 35 overlapping the text. A little confusing, but there you have it. Primary light green binding. Beautiful color illustrated endpapers, and many, many color illustrations throughout the text.

Exterior very good except spine has wear at ends as shown, light lifting to cloth at top of cover. Slight cock to spine. Inside is only good: both hinges are cracked, but holding. Ownership page with 1913 date and name, some soiling to pages, and messy coloring/writing to ~one third of the B&W illustrations, including frontispiece. Not perfect, but a harder and harder to Baum first.
