Here is a first edition copy of one of the harder to find Wizard of Oz books, Handy Mandy in Oz by Ruth Plumly Thompson. Copyright in 1937, this is a first edition, first printing according to Bibliographia Oziana: Handy Mandy on spine, pictorial endpapers in black and white, 16-page gatherings, Reilly & Lee spine imprint in semi-script, fancy lettering, interesting turquoise cloth.
The book is in good condition, with some wear and flaws. Cover pastedown has light staining and wear, as does the rear cover. Spine is lightly faded. Inside, the hinges were partly split and neatly repaired, and the endpapers have heavy age toning. Former owner’s bookplate on Book Belongs To page. The other pages are age toned with occasional staining and corners bumped. A true Thompson first at a relatively low price.
