Description
Here is a first edition copy of The Wonder City of Oz book in original second printing dust jacket. Copyright 1940 by John R. Neill, famous Oz illustrator who continued writing the series for a while. This Reilly & Lee edition has a full color pastedown illustration on the cloth front cover, and the 16 page “gatherings” and correct position of the illustration on p. 292-293 as called for in the first printing. The dust jacket flap lists to Scalawagons of Oz (1941), so is just slightly later than the first printing dust jacket. Black and white illustrations by John R. Neill (color plates were no longer used at this point), black and white illustrated endpapers.
A very good copy overall with super clean spine, rear cover and front cover pastedown. The interior is also nice although there is a small stain at the base of the first 32 pages. The hinges are tight and the front endpaper has a scuffed area at upper right. The pages are clean except for a pencil name on the ownership page. The dust jacket is good only, not price clipped but there is a chip out of the back bottom portion as shown, and some longer closed tears and small edge chips. as shown.
