A beautiful 1st edition of Animal ABC (and A Child’s Visit to the Zoo), copyright Reilly & Britton in 1905, first printing with 1905 on the title page (reference The Book Collector’s Guide to L. Frank Baum). Introduction by L. Frank Baum (Wizard of Oz author) describing how the Christmas stocking came to be. One of the Christmas Stocking series books, designed to put inside children’s stockings. This tiny book is only about 3″ by 4″ and contains 124 numbered pages. With many full color and b/w illustrations.
This title is the hardest to find in the series, as it was later changed to Peter Rabbit, and this copy is in very good condition. The paper covered boards are clean and bright, and the cloth is clean with a little staining on rear cover. Some wear to the corners and spine ends. Inside, endpapers are clean and unbroken, slight separation starting at title page, pages are clean with no writing or tears. Very nice overall.
