Here’s an interesting real photo postcard featuring Main Street of Aberdeen, South Dakota, where L Frank Baum had “Baum’s Bazaar”. The caption is “Main St, Looking south from Roof Garden”. The postcard is dated 1916, so later than Baum’s time, but I imagine things didn’t change much. Thanks to a reader who sent me this link: http://aberdeenareahistory.org/files/original/8e9a8d5c9c79dc07cbe33a75d101db91.pdf, this appears to be taken from the north end of the 200 block, and Baum’s Bazaar would have been located on the south end of the 400 block, behind the Hardware store on the right. Postally used, in generally good condition with some creasing along the top.
