Here is the fun Wizard of Oz book put out to tie in with the movie in 1939. Published by Bobbs Merrill, this thick edition has the full unabridged story by L Frank Baum and 8 original color plates by W.W. Denslow used in the original Wonderful Wizard of Oz book, and the original Denslow-based dust jacket. Copyright 1903, published in 1939. Shown as Bibliographia Oziana plate 8, first printing according to that source, with the inserted movie stills as sepia-toned endpapers.
The book itself is in near very good condition. The exterior, including the spine, is clean and nice. Inside, the hinges are intact and the book is complete, but the pages have foxing (brown spots/areas), especially opposite the color plates, and on the text block edges. All of the original 8 color plates are present and in nice shape except for some foxing. No tears or writing noted. The dust jacket is in good condition, with some chipping at spine ends, light wear, and foxing to back side. Not price-clipped, and with a gorgeous color cover design, based on the original Denslow illustrations. Overall a nice copy of this classic vintage book, hard to find in the jacket.
