Offered here is an early edition of The Wizard of Oz book by L. Frank Baum, signed by Jack Haley, who played the Tin Man in the 1939 MGM movie! According to the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum, this is a 5th edition, 5th printing, from the late 1930s. Cover shown as Fig 14 of that book. This edition published by Bobbs-Merrill and contains 8 color (as issued) and 8 black and white full page illustrations by W. W. Denslow. Haley has hand-inscribed it to Philip on the copyright page. I purchased the book directly from Philip, who had it signed at an event in Orange County, CA. Guaranteed original.
Condition overall is fair to good, with substantial wear to the exterior–cover pastedown has some scuffing with a little reddish ink, spine cloth has some fading with a small split at top and additional splitting along front joint. Inside is much better–binding is tight; pages and all 8 color plates are present and in very nice condition. Unusual to find an Oz book signed by Haley.
