Description
Offered here is an early edition of The Wizard of Oz book by L. Frank Baum,from the late 1920’s to early 1930s, according to the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum. Cover shown as Fig 14 of that book. This edition published by Bobbs-Merrill and contains 8 color (as issued) and 8 black and white full page illustrations by W. W. Denslow. With “PRINTED AND BOUND BY / BRAUNWORTH & CO., INC / BOOK MANUFACTURERS / BROOKLYN, NEW YORK” at the bottom of copyright page, identifying this as the 3rd printing of the 5th edition.
Condition overall is good but not very good. Cover pastedown has some scuffing and tiny corner chipping but is still bright, spine cloth has some fading and is slightly cocked, with very light fraying starting at ends, corners with some loss to cloth. Inside, front hinge has been glue repaired and there is some writing on the endpaper as shown. Rear hinge is cracked. Pages and all 8 color plates are present and in very good plus condition overall.
