Here is an interesting vintage copy of Tik-Tok of Oz. Copyright 1914 by L Frank Baum, this is a later plain cover binding with dust jacket listing titles to The Hidden Valley of Oz, dating the book to about 1951. However, it has all 12 color plates of the earlier versions! The plates are neatly tipped in and in nice condition, but upon close inspection the plates don’t line up perfectly with the text block–perhaps 1/16″ shorter at the bottom. So, it appears they may have been added later by a clever Oz fan rather than by the publisher. They do appear to be original color plates, so I’m guessing this was done by an early Oz Club member who managed to get a cache of color plates–back when that was still possible!
The book exterior is in near fine condition, with just light wear to spine ends. The interior is good only, with some browning to the endpapers and the front hinge cracked with webbing showing. Pages are very good, with an original San Jose stationer store’s seal to the rear endpaper. The 12 plates are very clean. The color dust jacket is very good, not price-clipped and with a few closed edge tears.
