Here is a nice early copy of “Tik-tok of Oz”, 8th of the Oz books written by L. Frank Baum. Copyright 1914, this is a Reilly & Lee edition with 12 color plates with captions by John R. Neill. According to the Book Collector’s Guide to L Frank Baum, no list of titles on back of ownership page, so printed between about 1925 and 1934. Blank endpapers.
Book is in good but not very good condition overall. The cover illustration has slight scuffing and edge wear. The spine and rear cover are in good shape with light wear. Inside, hinges and binding are intact, but Miss Jane Shaw has written her name repeatedly in pencil on front endpaper and once on the title page, and rear endpaper has remnants of a bookstore seal. Book Belongs To page has a pencil name and some erasure marks. All 12 color plates are attached and would be in nice condition, except Miss Shaw has written her opinions in pencil at the top of the illustrations–“Nice”, “Funny”, “Sweet”, etc. Pages are generally clean, occasional finger soiling, no coloring or tears noted. A hard to find title with color plates!
