Description

Here is a first edition copy of “Tik-tok of Oz”, 8th of the Oz books written by L. Frank Baum. Copyright 1914, this is a first Reilly & Britton printing, with the points given in the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum:

Patchwork Girl of Oz is last title listed on publisher’s advertisement verso of title page, and the publisher’s imprint on the spine has double horizontal lines at top and bottom of spine. Also with 12 color plates without captions by John R. Neill. Full color map endpapers depicting Oz (front) and surrounding countries (rear). Condition is good but not very good, with some wear to front pastedown, and fading to spine, with some wear along edges and ends, as well some creasing at top. Inside, the front hinge and endpaper are tight and clean, but the rear hinge is badly cracked, with the mull (webbing) exposed. The Ownership page has an erased name and some bookseller’s notations at top of that page. The 12 plates are all present and in good conditioin, but there is heavy foxing opposite the frontis and page opposite. The rest of the pages are in quite good condition.
