Here is an unusual copy of The Magic of Oz with a hard-to-find dust jacket illustrated by Dick Martin. In 1960, only ten of the Oz books were issued in special dust jackets by Martin, and these were only in production for a few years before being replaced by the “white cover” editions without dust jackets, which are much more common. These jacket covers are described in Appendix 2 of Bibliographia Oziana (1988). Magic was written by L. Frank Baum and published by Reilly & Lee.
The book itself is in excellent condition, with just a 1964 inscription on the Book Belongs To page. Cover and text is very clean; tight hinges, illustrated endpapers. The jacket is price clipped and has a little chipping to top of spine and a larger piece missing at bottom. ~3″ closed tear on front with old tape marks. Still quite attractive overall, protected in a mylar-type cover.
