Description
Here is The Songs of Father Goose book, by L. Frank Baum and illustrated by the prolific W. W. Denslow. Circa 1909, this is the Bobbs-Merrill printing in binding A, with the red cloth spine as used in the 1st edition by Geo. M. Hill. The oversized book has 84 pages and many individual songs, each illustrated with a black and white full page by Denslow. The Denslow illustrations, as usual, are very clever and fabulous!
The book is in good but not very good condition. The front cover graphics are still in nice condition, but with substantial edge and corner wear to the paper-covered boards, and a small ink mark at lower right. The spine is intact with a little wear at ends. Inside, the endpapers have some browning and dirt as shown, and the hinges are intact but the binding is loosening at the title page. The text pages are in decent condition, but do have occasional finger soiling and closed tears. An unusual Baum/Denslow collaboration, at a good price.
