Description

Here is The Scarecrow and Tin-man, by WW Denslow with illustrations by Mary and Wallace Stover “after Denslow”. (He originally published this title in 1904 without approval by L Frank Baum.) This version published by Perks in 1946. Softcover format that includes Slovenly Peter and Slovenly Betsy, in addition to the Scarecrow title. Interesting yellow and Black Illustrations “after” Denslow by Stover, looking very like the originals but w/o Den’s seahorse mark.

Condition is good but fragile on acidic wartime paper, with age toning to the inside pages, which are otherwise tightly bound and in nice shape. The cover does have substantial wear to spine, especially at bottom and on rear cover. “Jerry” written at top of front cover, which also has some creasing on the fore-edge. Stapled binding is solid, very cute.
