Description
Here is a collectible first edition of the Rinkitink in Oz book by L Frank Baum, a Wizard of Oz book published in 1916 by Reilly & Britton. This is a first printing as described in the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum: no publisher’s advertisement on back of ownership page, and with Reilly & Britton on the spine and title page. With pictorial endpapers and 12 color plates by John R Neill.
Condition is very good–the pastedown is bright and attractive with just light rubbing. The cloth is in clean overall condition, except there is a little fraying at spine base, front bottom corner with wear and a small nick at base of rear cover. Inside, both hinges are intact and tight and endpapers are clean (very faint old pencil price at top corner). Period bookplate of Catherine L Sexton of PA and same name on ownership page. All 12 color plates are present and in excellent condition (one possibly re-inserted?) Text pages overall are in very nice condition; no coloring or tears. Overall, a nice copy of a hard to find Baum first edition, especially in this condition.
