Description
Here is a first edition of the Rinkitink in Oz book by L Frank Baum, a Wizard of Oz book published in 1916 by Reilly & Britton. This is a first printing as described in the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum: no publisher’s advertisement on back of ownership page, and with Reilly & Britton on the spine and title page. With pictorial endpapers and 12 color plates by John R Neill.
Condition is good plus overall, with some flaws.The pastedown cover has a little chipping on right edge, and light scratching. The spine and rear cover are nice. Inside, both hinges have been repaired, the ownership page has several pencil markings, including a prior bookseller’s price/notation, and a 1917 date. All 12 color plates are present and in good condition, but there is some foxing (brownish spots) to edges of text block and cloth as shown. One text page and one plate have significant staining in the margins, other minor wear. A decent copy of a hard-to-find Baum first.
