Description
Here is a first edition of the Rinkitink in Oz book by L Frank Baum, a Wizard of Oz book published in 1916 by Reilly & Britton. This is a first printing as described in the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum: no publisher’s advertisement on back of ownership page, and with Reilly & Britton on the spine and title page. With pictorial endpapers and 12 color plates by John R Neill.
Condition is good but not very good–the pastedown cover has some scratches as shown. The cloth is fairly clean overall condition, except there is light soiling on the rear cover. Inside, the front hinge is split though the mull, but seems to be connected via some glue between the spine and gatherings (so the spine lays a little flatter than it should). The rear hinge has been repaired as shown. Bookseller’s old pencil markings on front endpaper. Faint pencil name on ownership page. All 12 color plates are present and in generally good condition, a few with some small tears or folds. Text pages are a little dirty, a few with heavy finger soiling. Overall, a starter copy of a hard to find Baum first edition.
