Description
Here is a first edition of The Patchwork Girl of Oz published by Reilly & Britton in 1913. Written by L. Frank Baum, this is a first edition, first printing, with “Reilly & Britton” on the spine. According to the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum, this is also a second state of the first edition, first printing, because it doesn’t have the “C” on page 35 overlapping the text. A little confusing, but there you have it. Primary light green binding. Beautiful color illustrated endpapers, and many, many color illustrations throughout the text.
This copy is near very good condition–the main flaws being that the Book Belongs To page has been removed and in the middle of the book, there are 5 leaves with tears at the top edge as shown. The exterior is quite nice, with a clean front cover, light wear to base of spine, and a little dirt on rear cover. Inside, front hinge has a neat glue repair at the top, with reast of hinge intact and beautiful clean endpapers front and back. The text pages are in nice condition without writing or tears save for the afore-mentioned tears. A harder and harder to Baum first.
