Description
Here is an unusual early copy of Ozma of Oz, the third Oz book written by L. Frank Baum, copyright 1907. R According to the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum, this is a first edition, 5th printing, with a Reilly & Britton title page and a Reilly & Lee spine, and advertisements in the back listing to the Tin Woodman of Oz. This is the first time I’ve had this printing available to sell, as it was only distributed for a relatively short time (ca 1918-1919) before the title page changed to Reilly & Lee and it was no longer considered a first edition. With blank rear cover and endpapers, but filled with amazing integral color illustrations by John R. Neill.
Book is in very good condition overall. Cover pastedown has a little scuffing; spine and rear cover are clean. Inside, the hinges are still intact, and the front endpaper has a pencil bookseller’s notation and price on the front, a former owner’s signature and 1919 date, a small original bookseller’s seal and some remnant of a red seal. Book Belongs To page is also dated 1919. Text pages are nice and clean; overall a very nice copy overall of a hard to find Oz printing.
