Description
Here is an early copy of Ozma of Oz, published by the original firm, Reilly & Britton. The third Oz book written by L. Frank Baum, copyright 1907. According to the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum, this is a first edition, 4th printing, with ads to the Lost Princess of Oz–1917–in the rear. The beautiful front cover is stamped in black, red, blue and yellow and the rear is blank. Blank rear cover and endpapers, but filled with amazing integral color illustrations by John R. Neill.
Book is in good only condition, due to tears on some of the pages inside. The exterior, though, presents well and is very good, with a beautiful clean cover, light wear to spine, rear cover is a little dirty. Inside, the front hinge is cracked about half way down, and rear hinge is cracked all the way, but both are holding. Front endpaper has erased pencil bookseller’s notation. Book Belongs To page is blank, but has two tears about 1 1/8″ each, and the frontispiece has one tear. The List of Chapters page has some loss at the top, and the Author’s Note has a long tear about 4″ long. The first text page has an even longer tear. The next few pages have small tears. Page 32 has a tear in the center; page 42 has a tear and large corner loss. Better after that!, with some corner folds and light soiling. Still an attractive copy overall of this vintage Oz classic.
