Description
Here is a first edition copy of “Ojo in Oz”, one of the harder to find and thus more desirable vintage Oz titles. Written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, successor to L. Frank Baum. Copyright 1933 by Reilly & Lee, this is a 1st edition, first printing with 12 beautiful color plates by John R. Neill. This book was only issued for about 2 years with the plates, because In 1935 Reilly & Lee stopped including the color plates to cut costs. This book also is in the “A” binding, according to the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum, with the boldface publisher’s imprint.
The book is in good condition, with some wear. The cover pastedown has some wear to edges, the spine cloth is faded and a little spotted, and there is some staining to rear cover. Inside, both hinges are slightly cracked but the binding is tight. Heavy age toning and wear with a 1933 gift inscription and “3 weeks” written on endpaper–perhaps how long it took little Jane Louchs to read? Ownership page is blank. All 12 plates are present and still attractive, though there is a little staining at lower right and age toning and light foxing to pages opposite and behind.
