Description
Here is a nice first edition copy of “Ojo in Oz”, one of the harder to find and thus more desirable vintage Oz titles. Written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, successor to L. Frank Baum. Copyright 1933 by Reilly & Lee, this is a 1st edition, first printing with 12 beautiful color plates by John R. Neill. This book was only issued for about two years with the plates, because In 1935 Reilly & Lee stopped including the color plates to cut costs. This book is in the “A” binding, (according to the Book Collector’s Guide to Baum), with the bold face publisher’s imprint.
The book exterior is in very good condition, save for some cloth scuffing/loss at top and side of front board (see last two photos). The cloth on spine and rear cover is in great shape, clean and bright. Inside, the front hinge is slightly loose, but holding well, and rear hinge is tight. The Book Belongs Page To has a Christmas 1933 inscription. Pages are clean, no writing or tears, and all 12 plates are present and in excellent, near fine condition. A nice, collectible copy.
