Here is an unusual Oz-related book, as well as one of the hardest to get “Big Little Books”: The Laughing Dragon of Oz. Published in 1934 by Whitman, this Oz tale was written by L. Frank Baum’s son, Frank Baum. Sequels were planned, but Frank actually didn’t have legal rights to continue the series, so this ended up being the only one published under his name. Not many were published, and they are hard to find in decent condition. 1st and only printing. Size of book is only 3.5″ x 4.5″ x 1.5″. 425 pages.
These paper-covered books are fragile and often has substantial wear. This one in better than usual condition. The cover is pretty clean, some scuffing to corners and spine edges. Inside, the front hinge is cracked and there is a Pansy Shop sticker on front endpaper, apparently where it was sold. The rear hinge is intact. Small chip to base of and some discoloration to title page. The pages are in generally nice condition with some wear and age toning as typical with this book.
