In stock

Here is a 1st edition, 1st printing of Grampa in Oz by Ruth Plumly Thompson. Published in 1924 by Reilly & Lee, wiith 12 color plates by John R. Neill. (This is the only early Oz book that didn’t have a color frontispiece as one of the 12 plates). Light brick red cloth wiith illustrated endpapers. As called for in Book Collector’s Guide to Baum, the numeral on page 171 is undamaged, indicating it’s the 1st printing.

Book is in good condition, with an intact pastedown and rear cover, light wear to exterior cloth, with a little fraying starting at top of spine and a small light spot. Inside, both hinges are tight and endpapers are clean. The Book Belongs To page is not filled in, and the book is complete, with all 12 color plates intact and in very good condition. However, the mull (webbing) is split about 1/2 way in the middle of the book, so some of the gatherings are loosening and it will require careful handling. Also, some of the pages have age or finger soiling. Still a desirable Thompson 1st edition.
