Description

Here is a first edition/first printing of Glinda of Oz by L. Frank Baum, in the original dust jacket! Published in about 1920 by Reilly & Lee, with Glinda of Oz being the last book in the publisher’s advertisement in the front, as well as on the dust jacket flap. The book has 12 color plates by John R. Neill, without captions, as well as nice illustrated endpapers. The 1st edition dust jacket has $2.00 Net on the spine. (Reference: The Book Collector’s Guide to L. Frank Baum).

The book is in near fine condition, with a beautiful cover pastedown, a clean rear cover and a straight and clean spine. Inside, the hinges are intact and the endpapers are clean except for a small stain at base of rear endpaper as shown. The Book Belongs To page is blank, and all 12 color plates are present and in excellent condition. Two pages have small (~1/2″) margin tears, one with residue from an old tape repair as shown. Otherwise clean and tight. The jacket is very good, with some loss at base of spine and a little chipping to extremities. No writing or staining. See photos. Early Baum 1sts are getting harder and harder to find, particularly in the original jacket!
