Here’s a wonderful and different book with the MGM Wizard of Oz film illustrations–Film Fairyland, a British book published by Samuel Lowe, printed by L T A Robinson and edited by Eric Gillett, circa 1940. “Presenting the stories and pictures of The Wizard of Oz, Gulliver’s Travels, and other film favourites chosen by the BBC Children’s Hour Film Critic.”. Especially desirable as it has the original dust jacket; the first such that I have seen. With many classic stories put to film, including 20 pages dedicated to the Wizard of Oz with 52 images, many beautifully colored and printed as shown. Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tinman, and of course, the Wicked Witch for your Halloween pleasure!
7 1/2″ x 10″, in near very good condition with some fading to cover but graphics still fine, light edge wear, front hinge lightly cracked but holding well, and very slight waviness to top of pages. Jacket is fair, with substantial age toning, some loss to spine ends, and closed edge tears. Both flaps intact with original price. A nice find.
